My Story
Before I dive in, I want to congratulate and celebrate you!
Something inside is telling you that now is the time to get your life and your finances in order, and you’re taking the bold step to listen and act on that inner guidance – that takes courage and not everyone will find it, but you have!
I’m so happy that you’re here. And my hope in sharing my story is that it helps you to decide if I’m the right person to support you on your journey to financial empowerment.
So, a little about me…
I’ve always had a deep love for the great outdoors and, in addition to my finance background, I’m also a trained yoga teacher and ayurvedic therapist. When I’m working one-to-one with clients, I use a holistic ‘whole person’ approach, because I believe that wealth and health are two of the most important things to focus our time and attention on. In addition to my client work, on request, I also love to organise intimate wealth and health weekend retreats to support groups of women in this area.
My finance career started with HSBC in the UK in 1991 where I specialised in private banking. Then in 2008 I moved to Switzerland to join an international financial advisory company. With over 30-years of experience and success in the finance industry, I believe that my skills and passion for financial planning can be the decisive factor for women to achieve their goals and find financial freedom.
And then on the personal front everything changed!
A few years ago, I took the decision to leave my long-term relationship. It was one of the hardest and most heart-breaking decisions I’ve ever had to make because I knew it meant breaking up our little family unit. But I also knew it was what I had to do to live the life I’m meant to live. Then, a year later, I made another big life decision and left my financial consultant job to pursue a dream I’d had a decade before of empowering women around money.
And so ‘Financial Planning for Women’ was launched.
For the first time in a while, I started to enjoy my new life. I was travelling and growing my business, and life was good. After a while though I started to feel uncomfortable. I felt invisible in my business because when I wasn’t in front of clients on Zoom calls, I was spending hour after hour behind my computer screen.
This wasn’t why I set up Financial Planning for Women. My vision started with wanting to help women build their wealth and live lives of freedom. And even though I was doing this, I knew I was playing small. I had all this knowledge inside of me and I wanted to share it, but I was limiting my sharing to a select audience because I was scared that if I really went for my dream, somehow my success would consume all my time and take away my hard-won freedom.
I was in a catch 22 and it was time to change it!
You see it’s only when we’re in a corner, when we lose someone, go through a divorce, leave a job that’s not fulfilling anymore, start a new life in a new country, or have some difficult experiences or obstacles to overcome, something inside forces us to make a change.
With all things in life, we can either allow our experiences to make us a victim or we can see them as an opportunity to grow. The former will keep you stuck and, often, in some form of emotional pain. The latter, however, will allow you to open your heart, reflect and see your difficulties as gifts.
And that’s what I’m here to do. To inspire women to find the gifts that exist in expanding their knowledge and understanding of money, and to feel confident and empowered to make financial decisions that help them to focus on living a life of freedom that is meaningful to them.
